Musculoskeletal/Pain & Sports
' I was really incapacitated by pain in in my back. I could not walk very far or stand still for more than a few minutes without feeling like my back was going to break. Every day was agony for me and I had come to believe my back was damaged for good. Yet, after studying my posture and movement, Tyler used a mixture of acupuncture and massage to get rid of it. She also explained what she was doing and helped me to understand where my pain was coming from and how different parts of the body affect each other. The exercises she gave were easy and effective. And the pain has stayed away! Tyler has the ability, not only to help you live a pain-free life, but to instil confidence and treat you like an individual. She also really put me at my ease, making the experience pleasant and something to look forward to. ' Gill, London.

A TCM approach to Pain, Dysfunction and Soft Tissue Injury

'Where There Is Pain, There Is No Free Flow & Where There Is Free Flow, There Is No Pain'
Taking medication to soothe pain does not treat the source of most pain conditions. Pain returns because the body is still alarming you to something that is out of balance. By living with pain, the body adapts and protects itself, creating chronic and compensatory patterns that trigger further discomfort and injury elsewhere in the body.
Acupuncture is able to safely and effectively treat and manage many muscle, joint, neurological and pain disorders. The cause of pain in TCM is stagnation of energy and blood. Acupuncture is able to release these blockages so Qi can flow smoothly. Subsequently, it can relieve symptoms and help to correct the cause of pain and discomfort to stop it returning.
I combine Traditional Chinese and Japanese methods of acupuncture with western trigger point, remedial, myofascial and structural techniques for the treatment of pain, soft tissue injuries, muscular and postural imbalances and compensations.
Successful treatment of musculoskeletal problems requires the examination and treatment of the lifestyle, structural and postural factors that have contributed to and caused the problem. This provides an effective protocol that addresses both TCM meridian imbalances and structural mechanics.
Adjunct therapies may also be suggested to support the treatment and healing:
Structural Integration is a unique, systematic method of bodywork and movement education, which releases both deep and superficial stress patterns in the human form, freeing it from accumulated tensions stored in the soft tissue, joints and viscera. This results in both restoring better posture and better range of movement and co-ordination, as well as conferring numerous positive effects to the person's overall physical and emotional well-being. See the page Structural Integration for more information.
